The clip Brick was made in 2005 in the United States by Johnson.
The clip that we watched in classroom was the beginning part of the film were we find a girl laying in the river dead, then fades away to another location saying two days later.
When looking at shot types in the clip, we noticed a couple of extreme close ups. For example we see an extreme close up of the girls hand laying in the river not moving an inch. This is a brilliant example showing the girl being dead. The audience may ask questions such as "How did the girl die" or "Who killed the girl and why did he/she do it. We also se another extreme close up of the man looking helplessly at the girl. This extreme close up is to show the mans emotions and how he is feeling looking at this girl.
The sound we hear throughout the clip is mostly only the music being played in the background. The piece of music being played sounds like it was minor which reflects onto this scene being played in the film. The piece of music being played can also be non-diegtic because you would not really hear this noise in a situation like this. An example of a diegetic sound could be the opening and closing of the lockers in the school. Lets not forget that this part of the scene was two days before the girl died or got killed.
The wording and the titles coming in to the opening scene seem to be slow and are always fading in and out. The reason why I think this important is because this is a slow paced film comparing to the slow paced writing. The shot durations were also long for nearly each shot in the scene which again reflects onto the slow paced film.
In my own personal opinion, I reckon the film overall is more of a violent/ gory film because seeing the girl laying on the floor dead reminds me of horror and terrifing consequences.
