What does this prelimiary task show?
This preliminary task is showing the 180 degree rule take place in the clip. Not only the 180 degree rule takes place in the clip, but also match on action is shown when the discussing is taking place between me and Leigh. In personal preference, i think that the use of the 180 degree rule and the match on action was shown to a high standard level because the camerawork was used to a professional way and we were using a variety of different shots and angles throughout the preliminary task.

Question 7 for evaluation sheet.
Question 7: What do you think you have learn't in the progression from the prelimiary task to the final draft of your opening sequence.
At the beginning of the year for media, we all had to do something called the prelimiary task. This task involved us all to get into groups of 2,3 or 4 and show that we can all use shot reverse shot, the 180 degree rule and great use of camerawork. When doing prelimiary task, i personally thought it wasn't a challenge at all. In a way, I was the one that was performing in the task however it would of been personally easier if i was doing the camerawork. Our group were not only looking for the great use of camerawork, but also we were looking for great use of Mise en Scene, editing and sound. The reason we were trying to achieve such a great prelimiary task is because we all wanted to make sure that we were ready enough for filming our actual opening sequence. In personal preference, I personally think that our prelimiary task went really well. The reason I say this is because we made sure that the camera was used to a very effective and professional way. We also included the 180 degree rule and shot reverse shot which again made the prelimiary task very good. Another thing that made the prelimiary task effective and unique was the use of editing. We edited the clip so that we can cut out bits that we didn't need in the clip and added special effects in which we could make the prelimiary task more successful and unique.

Once our group were completed finished with the prelimiary task, we then went on and got on with our actual opening sequence. We used some of the techniques from the prelimiary task in order to make our opening sequence professional and unique. For example we took the shot reverse shot and the 180 degree rule and put that into the opening sequence. Not only the use of camerawork was a good idea to use in our opening sequence, but also the editing was also another way in which we can fulfil our full potential in the media imdustry. In personal preference, we would never be able to get very high marks if we didn't include any of these elements because the opening sequence would not come out professional enough. However sinced we used both of these elements and the Mise en Scene and sound, we as a team have made a brilliant creative opening sequence.

Question 6 on evaluation sheet.
What have you learnt about technologies from the process of constructing this product?
Whilst we were doing our opening seqeunce, I was coming across a variety of different technologies that you can use to do the opening seqeunce. For example, we were using the camera which is the most obviously technology you can ever use. This piece of technology allows you to record and cut bits out whilst filming something. Aswell as the camera, we were using technologies such as the Imac which allows you to edit some of the recording we've done during the process. This is a really useful piece of technology because it allows you to make the opening sequence more accurate and more professional. We also used the Imac to sort out the titles for our opening seqeunce so that the opening seqeunce can look even more professional just like the opening sequences in real life films. Another piece of technology we used during the opening sequence is the scanner. This gives you the opportunity to scan in some of your work and put it on the Imac into your documents. This is a really useful piece of technology because it can show evidence for your opening sequences and it can back up your points which is a really useful way of succeeding your project. Throughout our process, we used the scanner to scan a piece of paper that contained a load of relevant information that was based on the topic. We then put this on to our blogs to show exactly what we were doing as a group.
There are many types of technology that are useful for the media industry; especially when it comes to creating an opening seqeunce for your film.

Questions 4 and 5 on evaluation sheet.
Question 4: Who would be the audience for your media product?
The type of audience we are looking for are people that are interested in thriller/scary movies and also the people that are 16 years of age or over. Most of the people that we are looking for are males because they are the ones who have a big interest in the thriller movie society. We are hoping fot these people to buy our media product and make them except the quality and the use of professional filming for our film.
Question 5: How did you attract/address the audience?
I attracted/addressed the audience by simply revealing a very good advertisement that people around that people around the world can be interested in. I also attracted the audience by making the price very low so that more people can come and see the film so that we as a filming company can make a bigger target audience which will therefore make the film more popular. We will be advertising this film more by doing television advertisments, leaflets, radio advertising, etc.

Question 3 on opening sequence evaluation.
3) What kind of media institution might distribute your media product and why?
Our opening sequence is a thriller. It is an opening sequence that is introduced for people aged 16-24. The title of our film is called Hummerscavern.
In our opening sequence, we haven't yet decided on the institution in our group but we will eventually come up with one. We do however have some of the titles in the opening sequence and we still need to finish off some of the titles in some of the shots. We are however thinking about using Lionsgate as our institution. Lionsgate is an institution from America that was first introduced in 1997. Many films were made by this institution company. Infact its actually one of the most famous film institutions ever introduced. Lionsgate would be a brilliant selection for our opening sequence because the sky with the background is related to the beginning of our opening sequence. In other words, the beginning of our opening sequence is revealing clouds in the sky and slowly the camera comes back down and faces the protagonist. This is a perfect match for our opening sequence and the audience would be more than interested to watch.

Questions 1 and 2 Evaluation on opening sequence.
Q1) In what ways does your media use, develop or challenge forms and conventions of real media products?
Firstly the whole Media class were put into groups of 3 and 4. We were asked to make a two minute opening sequence for a film thats based on a thriller or a horror. Before doing so, we had to make ideas on what we can do in the thriller opening sequence. We had to reesrach different ideas on how to make the thriller opening sequence professional. For example, using the titles the way they should be used, excellent use of Mise en Scene, cinematography, editing and soundtrack. We were also asked to create a storyboard for our opening sequence so that we know what we would be doing when we will be filming. We actually had to stick to the storyboard in order to make a perfect copy from the storyboard. Throughout this time, our group was finding this really easy but at some points we were coming across a few obstacles. An example of this can be filming at my house. This was an obstacle because I had to get permission from my parents if I can film at my house. Luckly they accepted. So our group were able to film at my house for our opening sequence. Throughout this time, we needed to book a camera, tripod and a figrig in order to make our opening sequence become professional. Without the equipment we needed for our opening sequence, our opening sequence will not be at a high level but we as a team managed to use these equipments very effectively and used them to our advantage.
Q2) How does your media product represent particular social groups?
I personally think that our opening sequence is produced in a very interesting and particular way. The reason for this is because we have the male character called Elliott Nelms who caused the death of his mother and father. Then we have the female character named Annabell Sandford who was trying to avenge Elliott by killing him because of what Elliott done to his parents. Elliott Nelms however was not expecting this attack at all. He was just having a bath just to calm himself down but instead a suprise attack occurs from Annabell. Throughout our opening sequence, there were also flash backs. These flash backs revealed Elliott nelms going up to a tree and neeling down to represent piece for his parents. Basically, this is telling the audience that it was an accident on what he done and he feels sorry for his parents. As I was the cameraman, I decided to get facial expressions from Elliott to show how he is feeling and try and relate it to real life situations that is similar to Elliott's.
